Loud power pop. For the love of my life.
I know I said I'd renounced soppy love songs, but sometime you just gotta.
This is based round a chord sequence that I wrote at school but could never manage turn into a song until now. I wanted the guitars to sound like breaking glass.
When the relentless daily struggle's all getting
Too much for me,
Who can I turn to when the shadows fall?
Who can help me see?
I don't need the flashing neon light
Or amber streetlight burning bright
If I only see her smile tonight
That's all the light I need
Every day waking up next to her I'm thinking
Venus has smiled on me.
Do my very best to look after her the way that
She cares for me.
I don't need the brittle stars at night
Or diamonds bright by candlelight
If I just look in her eyes tonight
That's all the light I need
Something in her silence speaks to me
Clearer than any word.
It's something approaching telepathy -
Sensed but never heard.
I don't need a soaring symphony
Or angels singing harmony
If I just hear her whisper to me
That's all the love ...
I don't need a soaring symphony
Or angels singing in harmony
If I just hear her whisper to me
That's all the love I need
