This song is the title track and theme of my album "Misunderstood."
This song was born out of the 2020-pandemic and inspired by unfortunate racially-motivated events that occurred during the riots around the country. The lyrics came about through feelings of mistreatment and racial=profiling.
[Intro hook]
Don't you hate it when you're misunderstood
When people don't understand
[1st Verse]
Don't you hate it when they're judging you
(Oh, yes I do)
Don't you hate it when the world is looking right at you
(Oh, yes I do)
I get alarmed by the stereotypes
I'm so bothered by the look in their eyes
Just don't feel right, I need some peace of mind.
[B-section]
Oh, what are you looking at?
A young brother with a plan
Guess I must've broke a law, and now I'm a criminal.
[Hook]
Don't you hate it when you're misunderstood
When people don't understand
Don't you hate it when you're misunderstood
When people don't understand
[2nd Verse]
I hate it when they're telling their lies on me
And I hate it when the world believes every word they say
I get annoyed by their pretty little lies
I'm so bothered by the stereotypes
How do you think I feel, when they don't understand
[B-section]
Oh, what are you looking at?
A young brother with a plan
Guess I must've broke a law, and now I'm a criminal.
[Hook]
Don't you hate it when you're misunderstood
When people don't understand
Don't you hate it when you're misunderstood
When people don't understand
