Why does the road to Recovery always go via Little Suffering?
In the days before lockdown we used to be able to go to a place called "The Jim".
I don't know who Jim is or was, but he's a deceptive euphemism for "Palace of Pain".
Within lurks a particular implement of torture called the elliptical or cross-trainer.
Feeling run-down, exhausted, at death's door? No? Well ten minutes on this evil contraption and you'll be calling the paramedics.
Keep on doing what you do
Good things will come to you
Stay true to what makes you you
Good things come to you
Let the train take the strain
There's more to gain than just pain
Cross train take the strain
There's more to gain than just pain
Because the ticket collector's walking dead
The engine driver's out of his head
The tracks are buckled, the bridges are out
Isn't this what life's all about?
Let the train take the strain.
Now, liberty feeds the soul
Learn to love what you can't control
Let it rock, let it roll
Learn to love what you can't control
Find your way, the way you play
A little bit further every day
Find your way, don't get led astray
A little bit further every day
Because the boiler is blowing
The brakes are shot
Firebox's given it all she got
The pistons are leaking, the govenor's gone
We're running flat out into the setting sun
Let the train take the strain.
Get on board, making time
Non stop til the end of the line
All aboard, we'll be fine
Non stop til the end of the line
Let the train take the strain
There's more to gain than just pain
Cross train take the strain
There's more to gain than just pain
Because the boiler is blowing
The brakes are shot
Firebox's given it all she got
The pistons are leaking, the govenor's gone
We're running flat out into the setting sun
Let the train take the strain.
And the ticket collector's walking dead
The engine driver's out of his head
The tracks are buckled, the bridges are out
Isn't this what life's all about?
Let the train take the strain.
